This task was to create images using bounced flash techniques with our camera's on board flash. It was an enjoyable task and again highlighted the range of options with flash.

I am still waiting on my softbox to arrive, so unfortunately some shots may not be exactly what is expected from the brief.

Step 2 - Bounced Flash Off Ceiling

1/50 f4.5 FEC 0 FCS

I was limited with the materials I could use to create the diffuser for this task as I am waiting for materials to be delivered. I had used sticky notes wrapped in tin foil and taped them to the pop up flash. Although some of the flash has broken cover and illuminated the top of the image, I actually like the effect it has had on the image.

Step 3 - Side Bounced Flash

1/200 f4.5 FEC 0 FCS

I really like this image. I believe the side bounced flash has worked really successfully to create a window lighting effect on the subjects face. There is a soft contrast between the right and left side of the image that enhances the window lighting effect.

Step 4 - High Contrast Side Bounced Flash

1/60 f5 FEC +1 FCS

Taking advantage of a white door off to the right of the frame, I set the FEC to +1 and bounced the flash off the door; resulting in a really natural image.

*Note I did not have access to a reflector for this exercise so this does not fit the exact step criteria. The blog will be updated once the correct image has been captured.
