Image Production - Test Your Learning Images

For these images we were tasked with using what we have learned over the first few weeks and apply them appropriately to each task. I initially struggled with these tasks, however having learned how to use the different selection tools, and the select and mask tool it was much easier to complete upon revisit.

Task One - Postcard

Egypt

This was the first TYL task I had completed 2 weeks ago. As you will see from the other tasks, I improved in the time between tasks. I found this quite difficult with the lack of direction. On reflection I would apply the skills I have since learned to apply blend effects such as bevel and embossing effects to better contrast the smaller foreground images, and text.

Personal Images

This image was created a few days after the first, and I think it shows. I was more confident applying foreground images, using shadow blending effects to make images contrast better. The images of Beshoffs and the plate of food were copied from Google Images whilst the other images are my own, taken on a recent trip to Howth. On reflection, I would improve the look of the text in the image, but am otherwise happy with how this image came out.

Task Two - Mr. Cigar

I actually had a bit of fun with this task once I figured out how to use the bevel and embossing tool! I had experimented with different selector tools but in the end opted to use the layer masking tool to get accurate cut outs. This was the more rewarding of the 3 tasks.

Task Three - Melon Head

This task reminded me of a similar exercise from Lab 1. It wasn't difficult to complete and once again, after trialing different selector tools I opted to layer mask for more precise selections. A fun exercise.
